Meaning user.err in syslog.conf
Hi Guys,
please can someone explain to me who "user" is in syslog.conf file?

user.err                                        /dev/sysmsg
user.err                                        /var/adm/messages
user.alert                                      `root, operator'
user.emerg                                      *

Who is user?

The log level is defined facility.severity
You can play with the logger command.

man logger

Certain facilities may not be used by unprivileged users; in this case usually are converted to the user facility.
