I just recently installed logcheck running it at defaults. I don't have a /home/logcheck, even though the logcheck.conf MAILTO variable says "logcheck". I have a shell script that sends email alerts to all the teams if there's any issue identified .
This is the command that I use to send email alerts to others
cat out.out | mail -s "Alerts on $date" $EMAILID
