Solaris machine without monitor!!!

Dear friends,
I have solaris machine which doesn't have a monitor attached to it, I access it from another computer using putty. I was wondering if it is possible that by the time the computer starts, I could see all those boot messages live on my putty terminal. And is there any terminal emulation software which would provide graphical facilities, I mean that I would see the gnome login of solaris on the other pc. Please bear with me as I am asking foolish questionas but I want to learn!
Thanks in advance!

Hello,
If your using a PC and not a Windows server for your Solaris box you will not be able to get console access unless you buy a add in card. If you have Solaris on server class hardware, let me know what it is and I will try to help you.

If you want to just see a gnome desktop you can install VNC. VNC is installed on many Linux distros buy default. VNC gives you CDE not Gnome by default. I can tell you how to change this if you go this route. VNC can not give you console access though.

I hope this helps

If your server hardware has a serial port and support console redirection a bios feature , you can attach a null modem cable to some other PC to see POST and OS boot messages .
If your server has a serial port without console redirection feature best you can do is to configure your Solaris to redirect console and text mode in OS boot messages.
If you want graphic on your PC you can use an X11 manager , or X11 forwarding over ssh either or telnet

My system has serial port but not that redirecting feature. Could you please explain the steps to configure solaris to redirect all those boot messages?
