why do you need a console to see the boot messages? It looks to me that you have installed Solaris on an old PC maybe at home? I don't think you will be able to get a console to run on your system. If you really need it install a video card on the PC. As for X11 forwarding with putty it might not work. VNC will give you most of the display stuff you will need. Anther program called cygwin will work better then putty for X11 forwarding because it gives you a full UNIX/Linux environment on windows.
