To install sendmail, you need the packages SUNWsndmr and SUNWsndmu. You can find them on your installation DVD in the Solaris_10/Product directory. Insert the DVD, cd to this directory and do

pkgadd -d . SUNWsndmr SUNWsndmu
The installer most likely will tell you about other packages you need to install as a prerequisite to install sendmail.
If you have installed patches since the installation of the system (especially a recommended patch cluster), you may have to reapply these patches.

1 as a MSP, and the other as the real daemon or MTA.
In my current configuration,
the sendmail-client is disabled.
Both submit.cf and sendmail.cf are left as default untouch
