I have a bunch of Solaris servers that are running Netbackup as a client. I set them up and my backup admin has confirmed that they are being backed up. But what I want to be able to do is run a command from each Solaris client to see some proof from the client side that the files are being backed up. In my case, root (/) and /export/home are the directories I am concerned with.
My Backup admin is running her Netbackup server on Windows and she gave me a few commands to try from my end and none of them work.
Here is one:
As you can see, I get the "EXIT STATUS 25: cannot connect on socket" error message, but I have no trouble telnetting to the "netbackupserver" on the required port.
Anyone know a fool-proof way of confirming netbackup is running from the Solaris client side? I am running Solaris 10.
Here are the commands available to me:
hostname:/usr/openv/netbackup/bin
thanks!

A process timed out while connecting to another process for a particular
operation. This problem can occur when a process tries to connect to the NetBackup
request daemon (bprd) or database manager daemon (bpdbm) and the daemon is not
running. (On Windows, these daemons are the NetBackup Request Manager and
NetBackup Database Manager services.) It can also occur if the network or server is
heavily loaded and has slow response time, or if an evaluation license key for NetBackup
BusinesServer or DataCenter has expired.
The only checks I know to run are inetadm|grep -i bcpd
enabled online svc:/network/bcpd/tcp:default
telnet localhost bcpd
Trying 127.0.0.1
Connected to localhost.

Anyone know netbackup 3.4 on Solaris 8 .
Currently I use root to perform backup / monitoring ...etc .
