m installing solaris 10 4/07.

previously solaris 8/04 with OBP version 4.13.....

can anyone tell me what is the difference between installing in maintainance mode and normal mode?

You cannot install any OS either in "maintenance" or "normal" mode. Boot the system using cdrom and install from it directly. Even if your installation halts and any point in the midst, it will exit to the shell prompt (#). You can continue the installation using the #install-solaris command and it will cont from where it stop during your initial setup

hi, Thanks for your response

m booting with command

boot cdrom

but it went into loop with same message i posted first and after sometime comes at ok prompt.

ok>set-defaults
ok>reset-all
ok>boot cdrom -> check if its still the same

tried this earlier...but was getting same....please tell me what else i can do...

tell me one thing one controllar of server is not working can it create some problem. there are two hard disks attached to server.

i tried

ok>set-defaults
ok>reset-all
ok>boot cdrom -> check if its still the same

it comes u with

press ctrl-d to normal startup
or
enter root password to go in maintainance mode

i did ctrl-d

then init 0 to come up on OK prompt again getting same message.
