On E12k/15K, if the console hangs on the domain, there is a command as follows that you can use to re-connect. Not sure if it will work here:
smsconnectsc

no it won 't. the 15k/25k use sms software for system management. the 6x00 (midrange series) use a rtos for management with different commands...

Assuming ScApp > 5.12.6 the reset button on the SC might be the best option.

Hi all

Thanks for all your replies. I have discovered / fixed a few problems with this 6800 / sc's. Ive reset the slave SC via the reset button on the front. However, the master SC is erroring and dumping tons of messages to the console. Looking on sunsolve, I need to reboot that, via the reset button too. But, as I cant migrate the master SC over to the slave, I have to shut down the domains and do a `mass` reboot.

I managed to get the console via the TC on the master for 5 mins, then it stopped ! :-) Ive got my laptop today so will console on to the terminal concentrator to see whats up.

Anyone else supported a 6800 ?? Have you ever reset the master sc without stopping the domains ??

Yes, 6800 have its own o/s and isnt like the 10/15Ks. I wish it was as Ive supported 15K for years, but 6800 for one month :-)

Yes,

Provided that you have ScApp higher than the number I posted below it we should be ok to reset the master SC while the system is running.

I take it from your previous post that you have already tried a forced failover?

manage 40+ 6800/6900s. failover (setfailover force) and reset master sc. once that one comes back up, failover again. power cycling sc shouldn't kill domains running. however, i would plan for an outage as i've seen strange things happen (my general paranoid self Smilie ). we always swing users to our sister systems before sc is ever rebooted.
