I see that we never got an answer in this thread. Well, I now have a T5120 on my desk with an unknown iLOM password. If we cannot contact someone who knows the password by mid-morning tomorrow, I am supposed to break in somehow.
I can't find any docs on how this is done. But other models have procedures documented to reset lost passwords on LOM/ALOM/SC/iLOM etc. I got a complete list of the procedures that I could find and made a pretty good attempt at adapting them for the T5120. No luck, so far. I have one final procedure to try. This
doc talks about
Quote:
Resetting the Password Using the J33 Jumper
If the password for the ILOM “root” user is lost, you can reset it to the factor default (“changeme”) using either of the following procedures.Put the J33 jumper in place.
Boot the system once with the jumper in place.
Power the system down.
Remove the J33 jumper.
The first, non jumper, procedure seemed pretty harmless to try, but it didn't work. This jumper procedure is my last idea. I opened up the T5120 and found a likely looking jumper in the vicinity of the service processor. This makes me nervous, but I'll try it as a last resort.
....unless someone talks me out of it.
So... any feedback on this jumper idea? I'm not a hardware guy. What is the worst that could happen if this jumper has some other effect?
