BG-Rescue Linux is a Busybox and uClibc-basedrescue system with kernel 2.4.26 which supportsthe NTFS 2.1.6b driver. It is loaded either fromtwo floppy disks or from one 2.8MB El Torito CD.The system runs entirely in RAM. It supports awide range of hardware and filesystems, and canserve as a full backup/restore system for MSWindows systems that use FAT12, FAT16, or FAT32. It also includes bzip2, cabextract, cmdftp,cramfs, dosfstools, e2fsprogs, gpart, lilo,loadlin, lphdisk, mdadm, ms-sys, ntfsprogs,pcmcia-cardmgr, progsreiserfs, reiserfsck,smbclient, syslinux, umsdos-utils, and zip. This release updates the whole system and all integrated programs to recent versions, and adds things like full NTFS write support (using FUSE 2.7.2 and ntfsprogs 2.0.0), lzma compressed initrd as a ramdisk, limited DVD+RW write support, and more. Support has been added for F-Prot 6.x. Support for the following network devices has been added: Intel(R) PRO/1000, Realtek 8169, and Silan SC92031 / RealTek RTL-8139 D. You' dont have any Linux partition- Rescue Mode

I accidently deleted fstab file from one of the compute nodes of the cluster (RHEL 5.3). Due to this no filesystem/directory is mounted on the system during bootup. I started system in rescue mode but it says You don't have any linux partitions. Press return to get a shell. The system will reboot... (2 Replies)

I was runing suse 10.2 and windows ,i had installed windows on a separate 40 gb hard disk and linux on a 160 gb disk which it shrunk and left some 60 gb which were readable in windows. To compile support for this ABI into an i386 kernel place the following line in your kernel configuration file: options COMPAT_LINUX for an amd64 kernel use: options COMPAT_LINUX32 Alternatively, to load the ABI as a module at boot time, place the following line in loader.conf(5): linux_load="YES" DESCRIPTION
The linux module provides limited Linux ABI (application binary interface) compatibility for userland applications. The module provides the following significant facilities: o An image activator for correctly branded elf(5) executable images o Special signal handling for activated images o Linux to native system call translation It is important to note that the Linux ABI support it not provided through an emulator. Rather, a true (albeit limited) ABI implementation is provided. The following sysctl(8) tunable variables are available: compat.linux.osname Linux kernel operating system name. compat.linux.osrelease Linux kernel operating system release. Changing this to something else is discouraged on non-development systems, because it may change the way Linux programs work. Recent versions of GNU libc are known to use different syscalls depending on the value of this sysctl. compat.linux.oss_version Linux Open Sound System version. The linux module can be linked into the kernel statically with the COMPAT_LINUX kernel configuration option or loaded as required.
