if txtfile has any letters, echo something!

I have a text file that better not contain any letters....it can only contain numbers and periods. no commas or other punctuation. if it does have letters, I need to know about it. (log file)
>cat file.txt
772108889
77090.77090
4557889.1
4557889

need script that tells me if any of the lines have ANY letter [a-z] or [A-Z]
other punctuation marks I'm not too worried about.
