Hammer & Screwdriver Real-world example of sed usage

The following example:
(a) locates files at the 'src' variable
(b) uses variable 'jobnum' for work task number
(c) edits default work file located at 'src' named j99998.wrk
(d) changes all references to 99998 within the file to 'jobnum'
(e) saves the files with name j12345.wrk

Code:
src="/j1/client/"
jobnum="12345"
# add logic to only do what necessary
sed "s/99998/"$jobnum"/g;" $src"j99998.wrk" > "j"$jobnum".wrk"

You did not provide any information on your specifics, and especially what you have tried so far to accomplish your task. In the future, it is best to provide details of your specific problem.
