Problem With script
Hallo,

I have a question about a unix script i have to write for school.

The assingment is that i have to make a script that checks the size of the user folders and generates a report when it goes over the limit of 1GB. This script must run every day at 13:00 and must synchronize with a time server.
This is what i have till now butt i don't know what to do next.
#!/bin/sh

FOLDER='/home/*';
MAXSIZE='1000000';

"/etc/network/if-up.d/ntpdate"

if [ "du -sk $FOLDER "
echo $output
then usep=$(echo $output | awk '$1 > $MAXSIZE' >/home/sven/Desktop/veelgebruikers.txt)
fi

exit 0


I hope anyone can help me with this problem.

You really need to read up on shell syntax. But just take out all of the syntax and you have a pretty good script.

Code:
du -sk $FOLDER | awk '$1 > '"$MAXSIZE" >report

man cron to find out how to run at a predefined time.

(How do you know at what time to run it if you don't trust your local system clock, and feel you need to sync with an NTP server? That's a weird requirement.)
