i am studying unix with c language ,and completely new to this .I have question about how to pass the control from one program file to another.My first program has the main process and it should go into the second program where i can create six processes with also the usage of pipes to communicate between them.I guess we can use 'exec' but i am not sure whether it is possible .If it is posible can someone tell me about the format in which the command should be declared. I am actually trying to simulate token ring topology with 6 node as processes.Can someone help me in this matter.Its urgent for me.......

i'm sorry for duplicating it.I'm am unaware of it.No it is not my class work question.I'm working under a professor as a Research Assistant.It is my job.I didnt learn much about shellscripting before.I am asked to simulate token ring topology.I dont know whether i posted my question in correct terms or not.I have put in simple terms of what he has asked me(or i understood him like this).I have posted the areas where i have doubts

I made two executable files: one representing host machines, and the other which controls the simulation. The token is initially at host 1.It passes to 2, 3, … I'm planning to make token as a a predefined string and whichever node(eg source X) has this has the right to send the message to dest Y . I have included a file “messages.txt” which will contain the messages which are to be sent in the following format:Source:X Dest:Y Message:M .I have prepared this outline

So i guessed we could send the control from one program to another thru 'exec'.Then in the second program the parent can be forked n times to create n nodes .After reading each line from the messages.txt i can check with each child process whether it is meant for it. The next recipient for the token is determinded by the Source mentioned in the text file.I have problem in figuring out how to assign the token to the next source. Can you please answer my questions
