WWW::Mechanize::Timed

Cool, but I don't see how that will help. Are you sure you need to use WW::Mechanize?

I don't have to use WWW::Mechanize . I can use LWP as well.
The main thing is, if i can find/make a download progress, i can easily adapt the rest of the code to it.

It might be possible to print a real progress bar in the browser window, but it would involve javascript or AJAX because perl can't do dynamic output in a browser all by itself. Here is a basic file download script written in perl:

Code:
#!/usr/bin/perl -T
use strict;
use warnings;

my $file = 'test.txt';
my $path_to_files = '/home/you/data';
my $filesize = -s "$path_to_files/$file";

unless (open(DLFILE, "<" , "$path_to_files/$file")) {
   print "Content-type:text/html\n\n";
   print "Error: Unable to find or open file";
   exit;
}
print "Content-length: $filesize\r\n";
print "Content-Type: application/x-download\r\n";
print "Content-Disposition: attachment;filename=\"$file\"\r\n\r\n";

print <DLFILE>;
close DLFILE;

Assumes the file is stored on the server the script runs on. This is quite basic but can be adapted to a more robust program for downloading files selected by a user. You would definetly want to validate any user intput sent to this script before allowing it to be used to download files.

But I am not running the script through a browser, but through a console.

Sorry, I guess I totally misunderstood what you are trying to do. I don't know how to do what you want. The only thing I can think of is look into whatever options there are available for the interface you are using between the program and the console. Like if you are using TK for a GUI interface thats where you would look to see if there is an option for printing a progress bar. Or hopefully someone else will have a suggestion.

I have an idea, to change the WWW:Mechanize module, but then it would work just for me ;P
And i am not using a GUI. Well, tnx anyway Smilie
