This works fine for ls as long as the number of digits in the part being sorted is always 2 digits, but it won't give you what you want for ls -l output. (Unless all of the files have the same permissions, link counts, owners, groups, sizes AND timestamps as in the provided unlikely example.)

If the names always have 13 characters before the string of digits to be sorted, the following should work:

ls -l *.txt|sort -k9.15,9n -k9.2,9.14

(Note that when sort is invoked with no -t option, the preceding field delimiter is included in the field when specifying offsets within the field in sort keys.)

@ Don Cragun: I did not mention the stuff about (permissions, link counts, owners,...) because it will be really all time the same.

Thanks for your help anyway - because it give me the Chance to understand some more complex way to think about it.
