Yoda's and my proposal are nearly identical..*connector[^>]*> matches anything before "connector" plus the rest up to the closing greater-than-sign, and, after that, <.*$ everything between less-than and end-of-line. Both matches are deleted (replaced by the empty string).

What if there is two or more "connector" phrase in the same line? Is it checking from right to left or left to right?

sed applies "greedy", i.e. the longest possible, matches.
