Hi hansol...

Did you read either piece of code to get some idea of what is going on?

(Note:- ? == a number.)
I deliberately used var? instead of v? as it was a line by line _longhand_ demo.

Note all of the echo "$var?" lines so adapt '$var?' to be '$v?' or '$V?'.

Also for this demo echo $var? (without the quotes) will also give the results you require...

Are you expecting these variables to be inside the primary shell after running the code?
