use
Code:
"$hn"_"$dy"_ofhome

in your tar command.
Also make sure ECTMPROD12_06May14_ofhome.tar.gz present in /home/backup/
Also "tar -czf" shouldd be replace by "tar -cvf"
Also make sure "down.sh" script present in "/home/oracle/scripts/" directory
Code:
Basically there are Many Basic errors in your script.Try to run indivisual commands first then create schell script

Two further observations:
- dy='date +%d%b%y' will assign that string as is. Use $(date ...) instead.
- the error msg "...ofhome\r\r: " indicates you created the script with window's tools. Don't. Use *nix tools instead.

I have executed the command one by one, it executes successfully.

Yes, i also try to change the script using windows editor e.g. wordpad
