Actually disedorgue's 3rd suggestion should fulfill your additional requirement..

[:alpha:] filters lower and upper case. You can to have more information about different characters class in this 2 man:
regex
ctype

Hi disedorgue,
Great reference, thanks!. All I did was change
Code:
[:alpha:]

to
Code:
[:lower:]

and it solved the problem completely.
