This is quite long a line with many a pipe (and it's not consistent from post to post...). If I read it correctly, you want to select lines meeting some criteria ("Originating *2013*" , some other) and then unselect based on a bunch of different strings. How about using one single awk command for selecting/dismissing lines AND substituting the ip addresses finally?

BTW - you are missing a dot in your sed command causing it to spit out that error msg.

Which you would do, incidentally, like:

Substitution

I am trying to do some substitutions using the substitution operator (:%s) in a text file. I want to replace all A1, A2, A3.......A100 in my text file. I used :%s/A2/SAE/g successfully until A9 but when I use A1, all the A11 to A19 is changed. How do I specify the exact match here? (8 Replies)
