Shortening a awk command

The gsub(/.*,|--.*/,x,E) function firstly removes all text before comma .*, then it is removes all text after double dash --.* to extract the epoch time.

If your field changes, then you have to come up with a generalized way of extracting required data.

when i run the command:

awk -v E="$epoh" 'BEGIN{gsub(/.*,|--.*/,x,E); print strftime("%c",E)}'

i get this:

Mon 01 Apr 2013 04:14:45 PM UTC

but the actual date is:

[root@home]# 
[root@home]# date
Mon Apr  1 16:14:45 UTC 2013

is there a way to make the output something like this:
