Not, it isn't. I have explained in this thread why it isn't possible.

The only way is to create a new file and move or "cat" it over the old file. GNU-utilities have the "-i" flag, which does the same (create a temporary file and move it over the original), but inode-number, filemode and ownership are not necessarily preserved. Therefore it is better to avoid that switch and do it manually, if you have to do it.

Thanks for your effort msabhi, unfortunately both commands doesn't work and the response from oracle is still in two lines!
But hey! Don't waste more time Smilie , I'll put the result in one line from query post-processing.

Hmmm am sorry for that Smilie .. But yeah i don't have any tool here to test that ..hope i was physically there to do that...I have had this kinda queries going in my work whenever i required formatting like what you have mentioned.I love to do these actually..Somehow its not working...In the interest of time i stop here...I really appreciate your efforts in taking my suggestions into consideration...but believe me ..whatever formatting you required could have been solved in sql Smilie
