Need to read Whole Line

I have a file that contains a list of files, that i am trying to pass to EGREP for analysis...however files that contain werid characters such as spaces and colons get broken up into two pieces and it fails.

I create this list by running the find command
Code:
sudo find / print -type f >> Filelist

Filelist
Code:
/users/home/sdd/file
/users/home/sdd/file2
/users/home/sdd/file_08092012_08:03:02
/users/home/sdd/file_abc
/users/home/sdd/file2_abc

Here is my code
Code:
cat Filelist|while read line; do
echo $line|IFS='|' read FILENAME1
echo $FILENAME1
done

Here is the output
Code:
/users/home/sdd/file
/users/home/sdd/file2
/users/home/sdd/file_08092012_08
/users/home/sdd/file_abc
/users/home/sdd/file2_abc

As you can see on the last file it cuts off the :03:02 and moves on to the next line.

I tried changing the IFS within the script for this part to "|" but that does not seem to have helped.
What can i do, in order to get the entire filename passed to grep, without it getting broken up because of poor naming by dev/end-users?

TIA

Please post matching sample output and a written explanation of the process. It is not possible to guess the function from faulty code.
If you can, please extend the example to include some invalid filenames, and explain what constitutes a valid filename.
Where did the list come from? Is some extract from a directory listing, if so we need to see the code which generated the file.

Anyway, what is $EGREP ???

Also please show sample output from the file command on your system, and explain why you are running the command.

First impresson is that you need to enclose text strings in double quotes. This is very good practice anyway, and in your case would preserve space characters. I can't see the problem with colons for the moment unless perhaps the users typed MSDOS filenames like C:\filename.txt .

Note: Because Post #1 has changed radically (including removing: references to file, egrep and $EGREP), my post now reads very badly.

I have modified my post to make it less confusing

Anything wrong with this? Note the double quotes round the string variable.

Code:
cat Filelist|while read FILENAME1
do
        echo "${FILENAME1}"
done

Ps. The script you post now in Post #1 does not match the output you post.
