I have a script which does couple of database connection and run some SELECT queries to get some output in the file.
I am surprised to see :eek: that when i run my script some times it gives the desired out put and sometimes it shows some error :confused: .

I have an issue that has baffled me. I have done many searches, read the man documentation, and I have yet to find a solution. I am trying to run the following command within a script to copy a file across servers:

I have a script, running on some outside firwall server and it's log of success or failure is maintained in a file.
I want to write a script which ftp that server and reads that file and checks the logs and if failure , I will send mail notification.

I've this BATCH script to run from my korn script...
The command is
/usr/local/BATCH/runBatch.sh PARAM1 'PARAM2 -PARAM21 PARAM22'
(runBatch takes
parameter 1 = PARAM1
parameter 2 = 'PARAM2 -PARAM21 PARAM22'

I've got a few cron jobs ... porblem is they are running as intended but some of them just tend to stay there in sleeping mode for quite some time ... sometimes even days ... for example when i run the ps command i can see that some are still there although the same script had run many... NAME
comm -- select or reject lines common to two files
SYNOPSIS
comm [-123i] file1 file2
DESCRIPTION
The comm utility reads file1 and file2, which should be sorted lexically, and produces three text columns as output: lines only in file1;
lines only in file2; and lines in both files.
The filename ``-'' means the standard input.
The following options are available:
-1 Suppress printing of column 1, lines only in file1.
-2 Suppress printing of column 2, lines only in file2.
-3 Suppress printing of column 3, lines common to both.
-i Case insensitive comparison of lines.
Each column will have a number of tab characters prepended to it equal to the number of lower numbered columns that are being printed. For
example, if column number two is being suppressed, lines printed in column number one will not have any tabs preceding them, and lines
printed in column number three will have one.
The comm utility assumes that the files are lexically sorted; all characters participate in line comparisons.
ENVIRONMENT
The LANG, LC_ALL, LC_COLLATE, and LC_CTYPE environment variables affect the execution of comm as described in environ(7).
EXIT STATUS
The comm utility exits 0 on success, and >0 if an error occurs.
