Mail a file if string exists within the same file
Hi all,

Im sure this has been covered a thousand times, but please could anyone help with this query.

The requirement is to search for a string within a file and then mail the contents of the file in a mail if it does.

Any help much appreciated.

Can you post input of the file and what output you want?

That will put the file content into the body of mail.
Code:
grep "string" file && mailx -s "matched" mail@mail.address < file

This will send the matched file as attachment
Code:
grep "string" file && (uuencode file file)| mailx -ms "matched" mail@mail.address
