[QUOTE=kalpeer;302640693]We have banner in /etc/ssh/sshd_config , it is pointing to different message. This message is displayed when i ssh to the server.

I want to change the message which was displayed during the console window. I am getting to the lab and connecting directly to the Server console.

can you write the outputs?
Code:
# grep -i "<stringvalue>" /etc/gconf/gconf.xml.mandatory/apps/gdm/simple-greeter/*
# rpm -qfi `which mingetty`
# rpm -qfi `which login`
# cat /etc/inittab
# grep echo /etc/pam.d/passwd /etc/pam.d/system-auth

and
Code:
# ps -ef|grep gnome

if you see the gnome-session or related processes then execute belows and try again (logout and log-in)
Code:
# gconftool-2 --direct --config-source xml:readwrite:/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.mandatory \
--type string --set /apps/gdm/simple-greeter/banner_message_text "Change Your Message"

Code:
# gconftool-2 --direct --config-source xml:readwrite:/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.mandatory \
 --type boolean --set /apps/gdm/simple-greeter/banner_message_enable 1

and that doesnt work,i need to examine all process.
Code:
# ps -ef

or i need a screenshot about this message..
