Question login banner

Hi,

I have added in banner in both /etc/banner and /etc/issue.net one by one in Linux but the banner is not displaying while user type username and enter

I have restarted the ssh service also

Any idea why?

Hi,

you need to edit file /etc/motd

that's correct, edit /etc/motd, which stands for "message of the day"
If you need to use that for ssh, edit /etc/ssh/sshd_config and the following lines :

#Banner /some/path

First check the which ftp is running through command chkconfig --list

if gssftp is used then

cd /etc/xinetd.d
vi gssftp
banner = /etc/issue
Save the file

Telnet banner In linux
vi krb5-telnet
banner = /etc/issue
Save the file


if wu-ftpd is used then

/etc/ftpaccess
add following entry above message
banner = /etc/issue

and then make file as

vi /etc/issue

"MY banner"

Save File
