Help with grep

Hi

I am iterating through the foldertree and need to find all scripts that are executed from within other scripts:
I have used:
Code:
generalexlude = "#|sqsh|.txt|\(\)|="
for row in `grep ".ksh" $file | egrep -v "${generalExclude}"`
 do
    echo $row
    other stuff...
done

My problem that I need advice on is that I exlude = in my grep.

1.That is correct when:
myvariable=${path}/superscript.ksh
2.But when this is executed Smilie,it will also be excluded.
${path}/superscript.ksh & pid=$!

Is there any way that I can check on which side of .ksh the = is presented to allow the second one. Or am I appoching it the wrong way?

Thanks
Michael

not related to your requirement but for correcting syntax - remove the space on either side of generalexlude="#|sqsh|.txt|\(\)|=".

If you include "=" in your exclusion list, all line having "=" will be excluded. Going specifically by your listed example use this regex:
Code:
generalexlude="#|sqsh|.txt|\(\)|=.*ksh"

This worked very well, Thank you!!.

I have a small modification that I need to do.

I have found functioncalls in the scripts that is called with a scriptname.
psedo code:
function myfunc("script.ksh")

How can I change the the grep command in the for-loop to grep for "/*.ksh"
- Get me all scriptreferences that atleast has a forward slash on the same line as .ksh extension.

Thanks again
Michael

To tell you the trouth I gave up Smilie.

I did grep "\.ksh" | grep "/" instead, and it works.
It is so powerful that it is hard to make it right

There is a double typo generalexlude vs. generalExclude

You should grep for "\.ksh" (and \.txt) instead of ".ksh" (. means "any character")

Try:
Code:
grep "\.ksh" "$file" | egrep -v "${generalExclude}" |
while IFS= read -r row
do
  printf "%s\n" "$row"
done
