Shell Programming and Scripting

Hello all,

It's been a few years since I touched 'expect' and just got it on my system.
In the past, I could simply do the following:
(this is just a simple example)
$ expect
$ ls -l
$ pwd
$ exit

...then a default script name would be placed in my working directory. At this point I could rename the file, edit it, etc... and when I felt the need to run the script I could:

$expect <filename>

When trying to use expect today, I'm able to do everything mentioned above, EXCEPT no default scriptname is placed in my working directory?? After 'exit', what happens? Am I forgetting to place an argument when running expect? Is the default script name being dumped somewhere else?

I'm running Solaris 2.9.
Expect ver = 5.25.0

Also, I only have access to the expect binary as it resides on an app-server and the man pages are not enabled.

try autoexpect instead of expect as the first command.

I knew I was forgetting something --> "auto"expect

Tried it and everything came back into my brain!!!
