Hi Guys,

I need to write a script that will loop on all of my oracle databases on a server and move archivelogs from archive destination to a different location.

I do have a function to loop on all databases on a server. I want help in writing a fuction to dynamically get the archive destination from the database.

I do want to hard code this archive_destination in my script I want get the this from the database using something like this select value from v$parameter where name ='log_archive_dest_1';

Hi,

Have a look at the RMAN tool that comes with Oracle databases. Information about archived logs is stored in the databases control files and if you move archivelogs with os-tools this information will not be updated.
RMAN backs those archivlogs up,deletes them and updates your controlfiles.
