basename issue with ksh

basename issue with ksh
I have a function name called help as below
Code:
function help
{
        echo "Run the script as,"
        #echo "$(basename $0) -sod or -eod"
        echo "${0##*/} -sod or -eod"
}

and have case stmt which will call this function incase of wrong parameter
but when ever I'm giving wrong parameter
it's displying as function-name not the script name
Code:
help -sod or -eod

not the
Code:
scriptname -sod or  -eod

PS: none of the option for displying script name is working

how can I override this issue??

call help this way, change help to use $1
Code:
function help()
{
    echo $(basename $1)
}
help $0
