tar.gz to txt and then to tar.gz again

Hi all ,

Is it possible.?

My need is:
I want to send a number of files through gmail, which is already configured in a Linux server.
And it is working fine.
But I don't want to send all that files as it is.

I tried :
tar -cvzf allFiles.tar.gz file1.csv file2.csv file3.csv..
Then sending allFilest.tar.gz [This will work, but if i send more than a number of times gmail will restrict sending compressed files .]

So what i did is:
From server
tar -cvzf allFiles.tar.gz file1.csv file2.csv file3.csv..
mv allFiles.tar.gz allFiles.txt
Send the file to my mail
Then from my system:
mv allFiles.txt allFiles.tar.gz
tar -xvzf allFiles.tar.gz --> Gives Error

What i can do ? Is there any other option for me.?

It may be an old problem with newline chars (binary/text modes on Windows and on some servers too). Or gmail tries to convert it to some encoding, and then decode them. Or it confused with '\0' bytes. Or maybe something else... Anyway the file you post and the file you get are different files.
You can uuencode your files but you will get 33% penalty on size.
