Column not in order

Hi,

I was trying to have an output as below :
Code:
1 | 2 |                      3
aaa |               bbb                  | ccc
               |                                            ccc
                                                           | ccc
                                                           | ccc

but I only manage to get this :
Code:
1 |                   2 |                      3
aaa               | bbb |                  ccc
 ccc
ccc
ccc

Appreciate if anyone could help out. Thanks Smilie

Make sure you quote your strings:

Code:
echo "1 | 2 | 3"
echo "aaa | bbb | ccc"
echo "| ccc"
echo "| ccc"
echo "| ccc"

Hi Chubler_XL,

Thanks for the reply and sorry for the unclear question. Here is my coding and I'm not able to display the 3rd column correctly. Kindly advise. Thanks!

Code:
echo "Server IP | Domain Count | Sub IPs"
col1=`hostname -i`
col2=`ls -alh /var/cpanel/users |cut -d" " -f4 |wc -l`
col3=`cat /etc/ips |cut -d":" -f1`
echo "$col1,$col2,$col3"
