Just tuck the bits you like in variables until the APM line, and then output them as a line.

Basically I have this file with records like above ,the one above is a example of one record ...which starts with BAU*...the record itself has two parts ... ,,the variables or fields highlighted in red will be different for each record but the field positions will be same .. So most likely I will have to use positions to get the output ...like / ^[a-z][A-Z]/ ....

Thx

Even old ksh is adequate, with while, read, ${#%%}, case, data and state variables.

I got somewhat close to what i need using this

Code:

nawk  'BEGIN{ RS="\n"}
/^  [A-Za-z0-9]/ {  grp=$NF ;X=1; next ;next }
X==1&&/Replication set:/ { SOU=$NF }
X==1&&/DGC/ { szz=$1 ; STS=$(NF-2)
             getline;getline;getline;CLL=$5
 printf "%s\n",grp","SOU","CLL","szz","STS > "/tmp/c-out"
                FS=" "
}' /tmp/input

Output i get is
Code:

BAU_0014_to_0375_ProdGroup1:,ci00p82,ci00p83-125,APM00084900375,20.00GB,(2151)
BAU_0014_to_0375_ProdGroup1:,ci00p82,ci00p83-126,APM00084900375,200.00GB,(1126)
BAU_0014_to_0375_ProdGroup1:,ci00p82,ci00p83-125,FNM00085200014,20.00GB,(125)
BAU_0014_to_0375_ProdGroup1:,ci00p82,ci00p83-126,FNM00085200014,200.00GB,(126)

But output i need is

Code:

BAU_0014_to_0375_ProdGroup1:,ci00p82,ci00p83-125,FNM00085200014,20.00GB,(125),APM00084900375,(2151)
BAU_0014_to_0375_ProdGroup1:,ci00p82,ci00p83-126,FNM00085200014,200.00GB,(126),APM00084900375,(1126)

2nd field is used as the common entity ....

Thx
