Hello,
I "remmed" out the dos line:# $/="\r\n"; # Again with the DOS files
and it worked like a charm.
Many thanks for all your help. As you wrote it is better to try and learn. I understood after going through the code that the dos line was creating trouble.
I did not even need to change Arg1 and Arg2 since my files will always be corpus and syllables
