Server supervising
Hi all,

I need to write a shell script to supervise a server if he's down. The script will send me an alert (e-mail for example).

Hi scottn,

Sorry, but i need your help Smilie, i want to supervise a Unix Server if he's down to be alerted by an email. It's just a small script but very helpful.

Again, we aren't mind readers. What environment are you in? How do you determine if the server is down? Just by not replying to pings? Or anything else? Is it just one server, or multiple?

when users ftp to server the timezone reflected is UTC but the server is set to TZ in localtime
