ERROR -> ./txt1[2]: x: not found
Hi all,

When I try to run this shell script (name txt1)


script -> txt1
------------------------
#!/usr/bin/ksh
x = "hello"
echo "$x"
------------------------


error while executing
------------------------
serv1> txt1
./txt1[2]: x: not found
------------------------


Txt1 script has been created in a different folder,
/usr/folder1/folder2/.../foldern.


Anybody who knows what could be the problem.

Please help.

Don't use spaces in variable assignments.

Use x="hello" - note that there are NO spaces in around the assignment operator.

Your script is trying to launch a program called "x" with arguments "=" and "hello".

We are trying to execute C/C++ programs in SOlaris 8. Though the exes are compiled in g++, we donot have it installed in the target machine.
