awk help

If i try this awk out put is coming like below
awk '{print $1"\t" $2"\t" $3"\t"$4"\t"$5"\t" $6"("$7")""\t"$8"\t"$9"\n"}' test1.csv

Code:
current out put:
----------
ALTER TABLE TABLE1 add COL1 SMALLINT(2) NO YES
ALTER TABLE TABLE1 add COL1 CHAR(2) YES NO
ALTER TABLE TABLE1 add COL1 VARCHAR(2) NO YES

desired
------
ALTER TABLE TABLE1 add COL1 SMALLINT(2) NOTNULL WITHDEFAULT
ALTER   TABLE   TABLE1  add    COL1     CHAR(2)
ALTER TABLE TABLE1 add COL1 VARCHAR(2) NOTNULL WITHDEFAULT YES

if $8=NO then it should replace with NOTNULL ,if $9 is YES it should replace with WITHDEFAULT
if $8=YES and $9=NO tthen it should replace with nothing.

can some body suggest how to implement this ?

Try:
Code:
awk '$8=="YES" && $9=="NO"{$8=$9=""}$8=="NO"{$8="NOTNULL"}$9=="YES"{$9="WITHDEFAULT"}1' OFS='\t' test.csv

Code:
awk '{print $1,$2,$3,$4,$5,$6"("$7")",$8=="NO"?"NOTNULL":x,$9=="YES"?"WITHDEFAULT":x}' OFS="\t" infile

Look for "sed & awk, Second Edition" from O'Reilly.
