Command looks good, looks like some problem with your input file.

This is not matching with input format and so command is not working as expected. Looks like complete UPDATE query is just a single line.
The awk command will work only if your update query is written in different lines as you gave earlier like below:

SET

old.CLM_RSV_UPDT_TS = current timestamp 
WHERE 
old.cur_rec_ind = 'N' AND 
old.CLM_RSV_INSRT_TS = (SELECT max(new.CLM_RSV_INSRT_TS) FROM TFNCLMRSV_INFO AS new WHERE old.CLM_NUM = new.CLM_NUM AND old.CVR_NUM = new.CVR_NUM AND old.SRC_SYS_CD = new.SRC_SYS_CD);

Please post the correct format of UPDATE query (If it is different from above)

ohh is it.....
format is not fixed.....it could be in 1 line or may be in different lines.....

also it is not sure that it has be an update statement....it could also be a selete statement and may be 1 or more statements.....

actually it is a sql utility which is used to update/delete/insert data in tables and before doing that in case of updates/deletes, it first check the impacted record count and if it is greater than 200,000 than it aborts the process as it causes file system full error (db2 database).

This should work for all cases (UPDATE query in single or multiple lines)
