Shell Programming and Scripting

I am new to unix script. I was trying to create a script which will copy from a fixed directory some certain subdirectory to a fixed dir.

like
lets say input is dir : YYY
it got some directories .I just want those sub directories which are only 2 letter like ss .
Also i want exclude one particular directory. lets say db. Rest of the 2 letters one i want to copy from yyy to zzz. as it is.

Please can any one help?

If you have rsync you can do something like this:

 $ ls yyy
db      en      fr      ignore  sp
$ mkdir zzz
$ for dir in yyy/?? ; do [ $dir = "yyy/db" ] || rsync -a $dir zzz; done
$ ls zzz
en  fr  sp

If you have rsync installed you can:

$ mkdir zzz
$ cd yyy
$ for dir in ??; do  [ $dir = "db" ] || tar cf - $dir | (cd ../zzz ; tar xf - ); done
