Append extension

Can anyone tell me the easiest way to append an extension (ie. .ldr) to all files in a directory that do NOT have an extension? The directory contains files with and without extensions, however I'm only interested in the files with NO extension.

Thanks.

I was able to accomplish this with the following:

for file in `ls * | awk '! /\./{print $0}'`
do
mv ${file} ${file}.ldr
done

Don't know if this is the most efficient, but it gets the job done.

I'm open to anyone else's recommendations.

You don't say which shell you are using, but you might be able to use this syntax...
Code:
for file in !(*.*)
do
  [ -f ${file} ] && mv ${file} ${file}.ldr
done

The -f test is to make sure that ${file} is a plain file and not a sub-directory.

I would assume your code is more efficient than mine, however I can not figure out how to modify your code to allow the script to work in any directory?
