Hi Scrutinizer,

Thanks for your response.

I thought I need to close it like in other forum where the solved issue need to be indicated as "SOLVED". If not, then I would just leave it open.

On the other hand, I've been trying to understand your below script, but was having some problem as I'm new in scripting. I've used awk and printf before, but not this technical.

bdf | awk 'NR>1&&NF>1{printf "%24-s %4s %s\n",$NF,$(NF-1),($(NF-1)+0 > 80)?"High Usage":""}'

Could you help to explain what are the parameters used in this script? What do they mean?

Thanks a lot.

Regards,
Peter

Hope this helps:

Code:

>bdf
Filesystem kbytes used avail %used Mounted on
/dev/vg00/lvol3     524288  282848  241440   54% /

NR>1&&NF>1 - > ignore first line and those lines with just one field(means which does not have much info on file system usage)

printf "%24-s %4s %s\n" -> just for alignment the %24-s is used as you can see in the output

$NF,$(NF-1)-> print the last and last but one fileds ( mounted on and %used fields)

$(NF-1)+0 > 80)?"High Usage":"" -> check if the %used field is more than 80, if so print "High Usage" Note: added +0, so awk will understand it as a numeric comparison to be done
