Checking response of the web page?
Hi,
I need to check the response of the web page without downloading any content. I used the below command.

_website=http://xxx.xxx.com
wget --spider --user=username --password=password $_website > /home/username/temp.txt 2>&1;

I getting the below error. The web page require authentication.

HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 401 Unauthorized
HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 500 Internal Server Error
12:02:55 ERROR 500: Internal Server Error.

How should i resolve the above issue.

To check the response code of a web page use the command:
Code:
lwp-request -sd http://webpage

when i used the below command.

lwp-request -sd http://webpage
it says command not found.
could you clarify the command once.

200 OK


Probably its not installed in your system. What is your os?

Install perl-libwww-perl

Use something like yum,apt-get etc. Or else install from source code:Gisle Aas / libwww-perl - search.cpan.org
