Power Help With Script Please

Hi
I have a dilema. The below script is used for 2 seperate servers. The problem I have is that 1 server is the primary server and 1 secondary. I am getting duplicate results.
The bottom line is I need to compare the results from the 2 servers and unless there is no TRN file or no recent transactions on both servers I simply want it to say it is all o.k.
Can anyone help as to how I can do this. Hopefully I have explained this o.k. It sounds right in my head.

     THE_FILE=$(ls -lt $DIRECTORY/*.TRN 2>/dev/null|head -1)
     if test -n "$THE_FILE"
     then
        SITE=$(echo $DIRECTORY|awk -F'/' 'print $3')
        OLD_SIZE=$(awk -vS1="S$SITE" 'if($3==S1)print $5; exit' $OLD_SIZES
  )
        NEW_SIZE=$(echo $THE_FILE|awk 'print $5')
        if test -n $OLD_SIZE -a -n $NEW_SIZE
        then
           if test $NEW_SIZE -gt $OLD_SIZE
           then
              echo "$SITE" ok
           else
              echo "!!LOG WARN $SITE no recent transactions!"

        else
          echo "Could not get old and new sizes for comparison site $SITE"
