Code:
find $DIR -type f -atime +7 -exec rm -f {} \; -print |mailx -s"`hostname` Deleted Logs" root

in the body of the email you will recieve all the filenames deleted.

no need for the loop. btw replace $DIR w/ your directory then put this line in your crontab and your done.

This is fairly simple; try looking at these threads:

https://www.unix.com/windows-and-dos-issues-and-discussions/12865-schedule-batch-file-delete-files-particular-intervals.html?s=
https://www.unix.com/unix-for-dummies-questions-and-answers/11052-cron-how-delete-files-within-directory.html?s=

This link:

http://www.webmasters-central.com/t/cron.shtml

And type this at your unix prompt:

man rm

------------
You're gonna want something like * 23 * * * path/to/your_script and put the rm command and whatever else you want inside your_script

I believe you can also just do * 23 * * * rm -f somedir/*.TMP somedir/*.tmp
