Split a file

I want to split a file into 2 Files. The First 2 lines should be the First File with a Prefix to it and the rest of the file should be the Second with a Prefix.
When i am using the below command it gives me an error.
Please help.

head -2 $FILE_NAME >Header_$FILE_NAME
CNT=`wc -l $FILE_NAME`-2
tail -$CNT $FILE_NAME >Detail_$FILE_NAME

Probably because wc not only outputs the line count but also the filename. That, and you're not evaluating your expression. The CNT line should probably look something like this:
CNT=$(( $( wc -l | cut -d' ' -f1) - 2 ))

Or, much simpler:
sed -ne '1,2p' $FILE_NAME > Header_$FILENAME
sed -ne '3,$p' $FILE_NAME > Detail_$FILENAME

Thanks Pludi....it works..... Smilie

You can make this script work after adding the third line

head -2 $FILE_NAME >Header_$FILE_NAME
CNT=`wc -l $FILE_NAME`-2
CNT=`echo $CNT | awk '{print $1 }'`
tail -$CNT $FILE_NAME >Detail_$FILE_NAME
