get output of program within a script to a file

I am running a program which probably calla script within, this script executes in a pop window and control returns back to main program.

Whilw this script is executing i can see a number of messages being displayed but I cannot read them ,too fast.

Is their a way I can redirect those messages to a file or somewhere?
If I use >2&1 it only redirects the messages from first programs and not messages displayed from program that runs within.

Any help appreciated please.

What version of Unix are you running?
One of the program trace tools such as dtrace, truss(1), tusc(1) or strace(1) might help?

It is highly unlikely that a binary is calling a script to produce a pop-up window therefore it may be an idea to simply use something like Gimp or Xv to grab screenshot while the pop-up window is on the display which you can then view at your leisure?
