Unix scripting
How can i write an script that accepts one filename as an argument, and displays the last modification time if the file exists and if it doesnt it gives me an error??

Try this.
Works only if file is in present working directory.
Code:
#!/bin/bash

if [ $1 ]
then
if [ -f $1 ]
then
        echo "File $1 exists"
echo "The last modification date for the file $1 is `ls -ld $1 |  awk '{print $6,$7,$8}'`"
else
        echo "File not found"
fi
else
        echo "Enter the atleast one file name as argument"
fi
