Pattern matching for following conditions
Hi all,
i want a pattern which satisfies the following conditions like
a-z
A-Z
0-9
/ or _
and it's limit of 64 characters
since i tried using
$1="/var"
grep -E '[A-Za-z0-9]{64}' "$1"

When i tried this for bourne shell, it shows error because grep cannot be used of -E.
suggest me if u have solutions

Try

egrep '[A-Za-z0-9]{64}' "$1"

But to match your pattern, I would say:

egrep '[A-Za-z0-9/_]{64}' "$1"

or
Code:
egrep '[[:alnum:]/_]{64}' "$1"

See if your grep allows the -P parameter, to use "Perl-like" regular expressions.

Alternatively, just do it in a Perl one-liner.

cat filename | perl -ne 'print if m/[a-z0-9]{64}/i'

Trying to use awk to match the contents of each line in file1 with $5 in file2.
